The Wantlist of '75 - a New Set-Building Endevor

Last week, against the screaming pleas of my bank account, I snagged a 1975 Topps baseball starter set on eBay. Overall, it was a pretty good deal. I got to within a hundred or so cards or the set, with most of the stars and rookies included.

Three of my favs in the lot:

Can't go wrong with a George Brett rookie card. One of the two big rookies in the set (my lot was missing the Yount RC, I do already have a copy of it in my Brewers team sets collection but want a nice, new one for this binder), it probably had the highest "book value" of any card in the set. My copy is worn and appears to have some water damage. But it's beautiful in my eyes.

I've always loved this card. Poor Bert looks like he's in a dungeon or something. I love the tetanus-spreading hooks on the wall behind him.  I actually got a Blyleven auto via TTM a few years back... per the TTM message boards, this a pretty rare get.

And, finally, a clean copy of Hank Aaron's first Brewers card. This card is really one of my biggest let-downs as a collector. Aaron was among the most famous athletes in the world when this came out, but they did this awful AB job on this awful photo, putting him in a blue Brewers jersey top that didn't even exist. Way fugs, but I still love it. I can't not love it.

Anyway, there are a whole lotta gaps in my pages. My wantlist for the set is listed below and I would be very, very grateful for any help.

  1. Your Brett is in better shape than the one I found around the time I started my blog:

(I've since acquired a better-conditioned copy, but I'll always love that first one more.)
